Detroit, Michigan, has a bad rap. But there are a lot of really great things going on in the city. Ford wanted to showcase one of these programs, called, “Detroit Treads.” The program, started by Ford owner and executive director of Cass Community Social Services, Rev. Faith Fowler, is unique.

Homeless men are given jobs and the city is cleaned up at the same time. Illegally dumped tires are located around the city and brought to a central warehouse. Here, the trained men make the tires into sandals and mud mats. Each creation is signed by the man who made it, evoking a sense of pride in his work.

We’re impressed by Rev. Fowler’s program and pleased that Ford is producing this series of Ford Go Further videos. Each one is inspiring in its own way.
